Colds and other Infections
To boost the immune system:
Garlic, use raw or gently cooked where possible. Use regularly throughout the winter to help reduce chances of getting infections and increase its use significantly to help if an infection has began. Garlic will help boost the immune system but also has antibacterial and antiviral actions therefore can work on viral cold or flu virus as well as helping to manage secondary bacterial complications. Garlic is metabolised through the lungs, this is why we smell it on the breath, therefore it works to disinfect the lungs during it’s metabolism.
Safe to use on babies by rubbing a fresh clove on the soles of their feet, this will be absorbed through the skin and can be smelt on the breath some time later.
RECIPE: For any respiratory infections. Chop 4-5 cloves of garlic into thin slices, cover over with honey, leave for several hours. Strain the garlic from the honey. Take a spoonful every 2-3 hours.
Onion, from the same plant family as Garlic, onion can be used in a similar way as garlic, although it is gentler in action the simple onion it also has immune enhancing, antibacterial and antiviral action. Again, smelling opnion on the breath indictaes its metabolism and therefore action directly on the lungs and respiratory tract. In addition their circulatory stimulation helps during infections by increasing heat, stimulating sweating which can bring down temperature and sweats out colds and flus.
RECIPE: For any respiratory infections. Juice a chopped onion, drizzle with honey, leave overnight. Take a spoonful every 2-3 hours.
