Each 2 hour (6:30pm-8:30pm) session will have 2 elements, we will look at an aspect of stress/stress management and will practice breathings and muscle relaxation techniques.

Sessions will start on the 8th Feb, with a new session every 2nd week. Each session will stand alone so you don’t need to attend each one, if you can’t make it; however taking each session will be the most effective way to gain all the skills and practice you need to completely understand and manage your stress triggers and stress reactions.

The aim will be to keep each session relaxed and light hearted, whilst ensuring we cover all the necessary info. Please bring your own mat/blankets for relaxation. Sessions will cost £8 each. Booking through EVENTBRIGHT (link to be added)

Dates and topics as follows:

Week 1   8/2/18  6:30-8:30pm

Understanding stress and the effects it has on the body, mind and emotions

Practical session- breathing techniques, progressive muscle relaxation, body scan

 

Week 2   22/2/18 6:30-8:30pm

Introduce concept of basic mindfulness, thinking styles and the impact our thoughts have on our actions, feelings and physical health.

Practical session, breathing muscle relaxation

Mindfulness body scan

 

Week 3    8/3/18   6:30-8:30pm

Explore self esteem and self worth and the impact a lack has on quality of life.

Explore the value of having activities/ hobbies/likes that are for self. Explore barriers to achieving these.

Practical Session – Breathing in more depth, muscle relaxation and introducing basic visualisation.

 

Week 4   22/3/18   6:30-8:30pm

Explore effects and types of coping techniques, including sleep hygiene, nutrients and exercise, time management techniques. Identify negative coping techniques –

Practical Session – Breathing in more depth, muscle relaxation and turning the focus and breath internally to increase sense of self connectedness.

 

Week 5      5/4/18  6:30-8:30pm

Goal planning, identify barriers and obstacles. Proposal of coping strategies to support goal achievement, and effective strategies to overcome obstacles. Learn about Bach Flowers/essential oils/herbs to help work with emotions and relax the senses and nervous system.

Practical Session – Breathing in depth, muscle relaxation and introducing basic energy/colour visualisation. -40min
